Lahu cotton cushion covers, 'Red Vortex' (pair) Home Decor Linens Cushion Covers ![]()
Green and red appliqu borders create a
fascinating sense of depth for these cushion covers of Lahu
inspiration. Each cotton cushion cover features a concealed zipper closure
at the back. These cushions covers where hand-sewn at a
Lahu village with available material at the time, and Thai
Tribal Crafts is proud to present this pair as a
true Lahu original. Lahu, or Musur, live in Northern
Thailand, in the mountains of China, Myanmar (Burma) and Laos.
They are animists and believe one spirit controls all the
others, although 30% of them have converted to Christianity. Lahu
are independent people, excellent hunters, they love entertainment and the
easy life. Lahu women have improved their weaving skills on
back straps and on foot looms - their work is
distinguished by having the pattern solely appear on one side
of the cloth. Lahu women also produce delicate and colorful
patchwork appliqu, banding and scalloping, and embroidery. They use silver
half-sphere buttons to embellish handsome items of many kinds.
Please note these cushion covers are not made with a
pre-sketched pattern, a slight difference is possible in the patterns
observed, making each set unique. 100% cotton. Hand wash
using mild soap or light detergent. Cushions not included.
