Cuzco vase, 'Man-Serpent God' Home Decor Home Accessories Vases Cuzco Style Handpainted ![]()
Dionisio Rojas tells of great Moche warrior chiefs
in this extraordinary decorative vase. The Moche lived in coastal
Peru (200 B.C. A.D. 500) and the greatest of
chiefs wore battle suits in the form of serpents to
signify their higher hierarchical order. Symbolizing a man-serpent deity, this
type of attire was meant to represent great courage and
instill fear. Rojas' detailed vase is a tribute to Peru's
past, and the colors he uses are identical to those
used in the textile arts.
