Beautiful and sensuous, this Apsara was originally carved in one of the Khajuraho temples in Madhya Pradesh. A nymph in the kingdom of the Hindu deities, an Apsara seduces with her dance. Brijesh Kumar sculpts this granite replica with exceptional detail, faithful to the original. The Khajuraho temples are adorned with myriad sculptures, including graceful "maidens" in a variety of provocative postures, dancers, musicians and embracing couples. They are believed to represent the Tantric practices that were a form of worship in the temples.
