'Water-Carrier,' vessel Home Decor Home Accessories Vases Archaeological Collection ![]()
Weighed down from
the pots on his back, the water-carrier man was responsible
for bringing the refreshing drink to those working on the
fields. He would strap the three pots together around his
waist and forehead. His presence modeled this vessel; the original
is in Mexico's famed National Anthropology Museum. Pablo Prez Vera
replicates the ceramic piece using natural pigments to ensure a
faithful replica. The genuine artifact is attributed to Mexico's Classic
Occidental Culture (300-650 AD), which flourished in the states of
Jalisco, Colima and Nayarit. Characterized by a highly expressive artistry,
most of the pieces registered in existence were found in
an almost pristine state for they were found in tombs.
Prez Vera is authorized by the Mexican National Institute
of Anthropology and History (INAH) to recreate this faithful replica.
Therefore, his work bears the INAH's logo and authorization number.
